DD Community Rally at State Capitol April 11th

Be There! Be Heard! When: Wednesday, April 11, 2007, 11 AM, Rally starts at 11:45 Where: Steps at the State Capitol, 900 Court St. Salem Room 50 for pre-rally issue updates and information What is happening? Legislators, advocates, families and self advocates will be speaking on the Capitol Steps! It is important to demonstrate the strength of the DD Community!! We need YOU! Make a day of it and schedule meetings with your legislators. Orientation sessions in Room 50 for all participants will be available, starting at 11 AM . Room 50 will be open until 4 PM for drop-in visits between legislative meetings. What is the message? Small Voices Deserve to be Heard! Come be part of the event and talk to your legislators about key issues for people with developmental disabilities. We will have fact sheets available for your legislative visits on our top issues this legislative session, including:
  • Rate increase for providers
  • In-home services for medically involved children
  • Close Eastern Oregon Training Center
  • Services for people still waiting
A pre-rally event is planned in Eugene at 9 a.m. at Alton Baker Park before leaving in buses for Salem at 10. Want to avoid the hassle of trying to find parking in downtown Salem? Try the bus! The Airport Road Park and Ride has bus service to the Capitol every 15 minutes in the morning, every half hour around the lunch hour and every 15 minutes starting about 3 pm in the afternoon.
