Hovercraft Gallery Opening ASO is collecting submissions for an art exhibit featuring original creations by Portland's autistic youth. The art exhibit will take place next April (2007) during Autism Awareness Month. We are hoping to present a variety of media, including drawings, paintings, writings, collages, collections, songs or other types of unique creations by children with autism or Asperger's disorder.

Scrappin for Autism April 21st from 10am to 7pm at the Hines Middle School in Hines, OR. Cost is $15.00. There will be a page contest, make-and-take projects and door prizes. For more information contact Lisa Tiller ltiller@centurytel.net

Southern Oregon Inaugural Autism Gala April 13, at the Rogue Valley Country Club, 5:30-10:00 p.m. Tickets are $100 which include dinner and entertainment. Attention all moms! Do you have a child who has autism spectrum disorder? I do. And I thought it might be nice to get together for a glass of wine….or ten….and maybe some dinner. It would be nice for me to meet other moms who can appreciate the challenges and somewhat hilarious moments of parenting and loving a child with special needs.

Systems for identifying and prioritizing educational goals, design of curriculum, instructional strategies and communication techniques will be reviewed. When: June 29, July 13, 20, 27 (Fridays) 8am-4pm Where: WOU campus, Ed 105 Instructor: Jennifer Rowan, Adjunct Instructor Course Description: Research based teaching methods for students ASD will be presented. Teaching methods to be covered include Discrete Trial, Pivotal Response Training, Structured Teaching, and PECS. Practical application of these methods in the context of behavior management, cognitive development, and daily living skills will also be discussed. 3 credits.
