Challenger Little League

Information about the Challenger Division of Little League. Mr. Elias wants to expand this league to include as many children as possible. New members will be accepted between now and the middle of May. There are leagues in several counties. Contact him for more specific informatin regarding where you live. All children ages 6 through 18, or who remain in school, with physical or mental challenges are encouraged to play. Wheelchair and leg braces, gross motor skills Lower level skills Cerebral palsy, heart and lung disabilities, and other health impairments.

New Video from TACA

Almost 1 million folks have watched it since its release in November 2004. It is to educate on autism, get a glimpse of what Autism is, how it affects the family and PROVIDE HOPE. We have not blasted this to the world yet.

Oregon State Fair Will Host a "Chill Out" Room

This year the Oregon State Fair is opening a "Chill Out" room to children and adults with disabilities who may need to take a break from all the excitement of the fair. Usually, parents have to fight for benches to take a break so this might be very helpful.

NPR - Parents of the Autistic Weigh Lifelong Care Options

When I listened to the NPR story on April 11th on the family of an 18 year old with autism, I thought, "This is the best I have heard to date." No kidding. It was super short and I think worth listening to. The story covered financial planning, parents worried about their son when they die, the need for more housing options and more. The Autism Spectrum Disorder Statewide Library in Salem includes books, audiotapes, videotapes, a variety of articles, and sample curriculum materials regarding a wide variety of educational strategies for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Easter Seals Sibshop: Program for Brothers & Sisters of kids with special needs

  • Meet and talk with other kids whose brothers and sisters have special needs
  • Talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with a disability
  • Engage in peer support
  • Learn more about their sibling's disability
  • Participate in recreational activities
  • Make new friends
  • Share feeling
  • Eat a yummy snack
  • HAVE FUN!
